Celebrating Renewal and Community: Lao New Year 2026
We had a wonderful turnout at this year’s New Year’s festival! Thank you all so much for joining us at Soukharam Buddhist Temple to celebrate yet another year together, honoring our vibrant traditions and welcoming the blessings of the upcoming season.
Our community gathered on the temple grounds to observe the sacred spiritual rituals that make Pi Mai Lao so deeply meaningful. The celebration brought together generations of families for traditional Buddhist merit-making ceremonies, including beautiful alms-giving to the monks, prayer, and the pouring of scented water over sacred Buddha to symbolize purification, good karma, and a fresh start for the year ahead.
Beyond the spiritual reflections, the temple grounds came alive with cultural pride. The festival featured a stunning community parade, vibrant traditional Lao music, and spectacular live dance performances, showcasing the timeless elegance of our heritage. Attendees also enjoyed an array of incredible, authentic Lao street food flavors that filled the spring air with the rich aromas of home.
We are incredibly grateful to our tireless volunteers, the parents, and every single guest who opened their hearts to make this day an unforgettable success. May peace, joy, and steady advancement follow you and your loved ones throughout this new year!
